Variable frequency drive (VFD) is a device that converts fixed frequency AC power into adjustable frequency electrical energy through the on-off action of power semiconductor devices (such as IGBT). It integrates frequency conversion technology and microelectronics technology, mainly used for precise control of the operation of AC motors.


A frequency converter is an electrical energy control device that converts power frequency power into adjustable frequency electrical energy through the on-off action of power semiconductor devices. Its main functions include speed regulation, energy saving, providing overcurrent/overvoltage/overload protection, and changing power factor.
